Knownwell review

Knownwell was co-founded by Dr. Angela Fitch, an obesity-medicine specialist, around a simple idea: weight care without blame or shame, billed like ordinary medicine. That last part is what separates it from most online GLP-1 programs. There is no membership. Knownwell is in network with most major commercial plans and Medicare, so an insured patient who has met the deductible pays a visit copay, which Knownwell says averages $25. Clinics in Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York and Texas offer in-person visits, and the virtual clinic covers all 50 states.

Without insurance, the visit prices are published plainly. A first weight-management visit is $299 and each follow-up is $149; nutrition counseling is $99 for the first session and $59 after that. None of those include medication. Knownwell prescribes only FDA-approved drugs and lists their out-of-pocket starting points on its own medication page: Wegovy, as the pill or the injection, from $149; Zepbound from $299; the Foundayo pill from $149; and older options such as Qsymia from $98 and Contrave from $99. Those starting figures are the manufacturers' cash prices at the lowest dose, and they rise as the dose climbs.

The insurance work is the main service. Knownwell's team handles prior authorization for GLP-1s from start to finish and says it keeps advocating if a claim is denied. It also points eligible Medicare patients to the new Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program. The care itself is relationship-based: the same clinician at each visit, shared decision-making on coaching or food logs rather than mandatory weigh-ins, and visit summaries sent to your regular doctor unless you ask Knownwell not to.

The tradeoffs follow from the medical-practice model. Every visit must be live, by video or in person, so there is no quick message-only refill. Self-pay patients carry two separate bills, visits and drugs, which come to about $600 in a first self-pay month on Zepbound ($299 visit plus $299 drug). And patients must be 18 or older.
