Our take on Sesame Care
Sesame began as a cash-price marketplace for doctor visits, and its weight-loss offer still carries that DNA. The program is called Success by Sesame: you pick a provider, meet them over video, and they prescribe from a list made up entirely of FDA-approved brands. On Sesame's own site that list includes the Wegovy pill and pen, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro and the newer Foundayo tablet. We did not see compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide on the program page in October 2026, which is the single biggest difference from most cash-pay GLP-1 sites.
The pricing is unusually specific for brand-name drugs, but you have to do the addition yourself. Membership is $99 month to month, with savings on 3-, 6- and 12-month terms that bring it down to $59 a month on the annual plan. Medication is billed on top. The Wegovy pill is $149 at the two starting strengths and $299 once you reach the 9 mg and 25 mg maintenance doses. The Wegovy pen is $199 for a new patient's first two months, then $349. Zepbound pens run $299 to $698 depending on dose, Ozempic starts at $199, and Foundayo climbs from $149 to $349 as the dose rises. So a realistic first month on the pill is about $248 before insurance, and a maintenance month on Zepbound can pass $700.
What the membership buys is more than a prescription refill desk. Sesame lists video visits and unlimited messaging with the provider you chose, lab work at Quest Diagnostics, and tracking tools for food, exercise and sleep. Insurance is optional, but Sesame says it will handle prior authorization, and with commercial coverage the drug can drop to as little as $25 a month. Medicare and Medicaid usually will not pay for weight-loss use, and the site says so.
The fit is clearest for someone who has insurance that might cover a brand GLP-1, or who simply refuses a compounded drug and wants the same named clinician each month. Bargain hunters will find lower totals elsewhere, because Sesame's cheapest real month still stacks a membership on top of a brand-name medicine price.
Signing up, paying and canceling
What Sesame Care's own site shows a new patient.
- Signup is a short questionnaire, then a scheduled video visit with a provider you choose; prescriptions go to a local pharmacy for same-day pickup or ship home.
- Labs are included only at Quest locations, and Sesame excludes Arizona, Hawaii, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Wyoming, where you pay for lab work separately.
- Refunds are tight: cancel at least three hours before your first visit for your money back; once that visit happens, the first month is not refunded.
- To stop an ongoing membership you must cancel before the next billing cycle starts; the site shows no partial-month credit.

Does Sesame take insurance for GLP-1s?
Yes, for the medication. Sesame says many private plans offer some coverage and that it handles prior authorization, with insured costs as low as $25 a month. Medicare and Medicaid generally do not cover GLP-1s for weight loss, and the membership itself is self-pay, though HSA and FSA funds are eligible.
Can you cancel Sesame anytime?
