Our take on Amazon One Medical
Amazon runs GLP-1 care two ways, and choosing the right one matters more than anything else here. On-Demand Care is pay-as-you-go telehealth: you pick your state, choose Direct Message Care or Video Care, fill out a health intake, and a licensed clinician decides whether to prescribe. Amazon says on its own news site that message visits cost $39 and video visits $59, in 48 states and Washington, DC, with message care unavailable in some of them. The second route is Scheduled Visits with a One Medical primary care provider, which bills insurance and handles prior authorization but needs you to live near a One Medical office.
The on-demand visit is a single treatment, not a subscription. After it, you can message the care team for 14 days about side effects, dose changes or pharmacy problems; after that, you request and pay for a new treatment. If the clinician decides you cannot be treated online, the treatment is canceled and you are not charged. Insurance is not accepted for On-Demand Care, though Amazon notes you can submit the receipt to your insurer yourself, with no promise of reimbursement.
Medication is billed separately, and the price list is Amazon Pharmacy's. With the manufacturer's self-pay coupon, the Wegovy pill and Foundayo both start at $149 for a 30-day supply. Pens cost more: Wegovy starts at $199 and Wegovy HD at $399, the Zepbound KwikPen at $299 and the single-dose Zepbound pen at $499, each for 28 days and each listed as a starting-dose price. You can send the prescription to any pharmacy you like, but Amazon Pharmacy offers free delivery. Coupons cannot be used by anyone on Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE or VA benefits.
The rules are stricter than at many online clinics. Amazon lists ages 18 to 64, requires recent labs showing creatinine, eGFR and fasting glucose or A1c, and turns away people with diabetes, kidney disease, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, heart failure and several other conditions. Its clinicians will not write compounded prescriptions and will move a patient already on one to a standard brand-name regimen.

- Before any price for the visit appears in the signup flow, Amazon asks you to choose your state, because providers must be licensed where you are.
- Amazon quotes an initial message response in under 30 minutes and a video call in about 20 minutes.
- Labs are not included; if you have no recent results, Amazon points you to buy a basic metabolic panel from a consumer lab service such as Quest or Labcorp.
- On-Demand weight-loss care is not covered by a One Medical membership; members who want insurance-billed care book a regular visit with their primary care provider instead.
