Our take on Nurx
Nurx is best known for birth control by mail, and its weight program works the same way: an online questionnaire, a clinician licensed in your state, and a prescription. The difference is that the GLP-1 injections never come from Nurx. Zepbound, Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Saxenda and Victoza are all listed as pharmacy pickup only, so the prescription goes to a drugstore you choose and you pay the counter price there, with or without insurance.
That makes the real monthly bill two separate charges. Nurx collects a one-time $79 consultation fee and then a recurring $79 provider support fee every month, both cash only. The pharmacy collects for the drug. Nurx's own estimates put Zepbound, Ozempic and Mounjaro at about $1,000 a month on average without coverage, and Wegovy and Saxenda at about $1,300. Someone paying cash for brand-name tirzepatide is looking at roughly $1,079 a month all in. If your plan covers a GLP-1 for weight loss, the math changes a lot, but Nurx is candid that coverage usually needs prior authorization and is often denied when weight loss is the only reason.
There is a cheaper lane. Nurx sells pills it ships itself: bupropion and naltrexone for $60 a month, metformin for $15, topiramate for $15 to $30, and its own compounded 3-in-1 capsule (naltrexone and bupropion plus either metformin or topiramate) from $75 a month. Those can sometimes run through insurance. They are not GLP-1s, and the 3-in-1 is compounded, which means it is not FDA-approved.
Who it fits: people with decent insurance who want a prescriber to handle the paperwork, or people who would rather start on an oral medication. Who should look elsewhere: anyone hoping for a low flat-rate injection shipped to the door. Nurx does not offer one.
