How many units is 2.5 mg of tirzepatide?

It depends entirely on the concentration of your vial, which is why the calculator asks for it. A U-100 insulin syringe holds 100 units per millilitre, so units = (dose in mg ÷ concentration in mg/mL) × 100. At 10 mg/mL, 2.5 mg is 0.25 mL, which is 25 units. At 5 mg/mL the same 2.5 mg is 0.5 mL, which is 50 units — double. Anyone quoting a units figure for a dose without stating the concentration is giving you a number that is right for their vial and possibly wrong for yours.

How many units of semaglutide is 0.25 mg?

Again, it depends on the vial. At 2.5 mg/mL, 0.25 mg is 0.1 mL, which is 10 units on a U-100 syringe. At 1 mg/mL the same dose is 0.25 mL, which is 25 units. Compounded semaglutide is not dispensed at a standardised strength, so read the concentration off your own vial and enter it above rather than copying a units figure from a chart.

What is the standard tirzepatide dosage schedule?

The Zepbound prescribing information says the recommended starting dosage for all indications is 2.5 mg once weekly for four weeks, then 5 mg once weekly, and that the dosage may be increased in 2.5 mg increments after at least four weeks on the current dose. For weight reduction the maintenance dosage is 5 mg, 10 mg or 15 mg once weekly, and 15 mg is the maximum for all indications. Compounded tirzepatide is not an FDA-approved product and has no label of its own — prescribers commonly titrate it against this schedule, but yours may differ.

What is the standard semaglutide dosage schedule?

Wegovy's Table 1 escalates once weekly: 0.25 mg for weeks 1–4, 0.5 mg for weeks 5–8, 1 mg for weeks 9–12, 1.7 mg for weeks 13–16, then maintenance from week 17. For weight reduction in adults the maintenance dosage is 1.7 mg or 2.4 mg, with 2.4 mg recommended; the label permits an increase to a 7.2 mg maximum for patients who tolerate 2.4 mg for at least four weeks and where additional weight reduction is clinically indicated. That single table covers adults and patients aged 12 and over.

My dose comes to more than 100 units. Is that right?

Probably, and it is worth understanding rather than working around. A standard 1 mL U-100 insulin syringe holds 100 units, so any dose whose volume exceeds 1 mL will not fit in a single draw. This is common with tirzepatide: at 10 mg/mL — an entirely ordinary compounded strength — the label's 12.5 mg dose is 125 units and 15 mg is 150 units. The fix is the vial, not the technique. The same 15 mg fits in one draw at 15 mg/mL or stronger, so the question to put to your prescriber or pharmacy is what concentration they dispense at your maintenance dose. Ask it before you commit to a provider rather than after, because almost nobody asks at sign-up and it is the difference between one injection a week and two. Do not decide to split a dose on your own.

Does the price change as my dose goes up?

Not in the figures our roster holds. Every provider on the board publishes a monthly program price for a molecule, and that is the figure the calculator uses — it does not move between 2.5 mg and 15 mg. Some providers do tier by dose in practice; we do not hold tier data, so the honest answer is to confirm which tier your maintenance dose falls into before you sign up. The practical consequence is that the early, low-dose months are the expensive ones per milligram.

Is it safe to work out my own dose from a chart?

No, and this tool does not ask you to. It converts a dose your prescriber has already set into the volume that dose represents on your particular vial — arithmetic, not a clinical decision. Choosing the dose, deciding when to escalate and deciding whether to escalate at all are your prescriber's. If the number this calculator returns does not match what you were told to draw, do not split the difference: ask the prescriber who wrote it.
